African Art: Aesthetics and Meaning
The objects selected for this exhibit were chosen both to exemplify African aesthetic and moral principles and to display some of the finest pieces in the Bayly's large collection. Most of the pieces in the exhibit come from West African societies.

Migrations: From the African-American Mosaic
For African-Americans, "migration from the South has long been a significant feature of Black history. An early exodus from the South occurred between 1879 and 1881, when about 60,000 African-Americans moved into Kansas and others settled in the Oklahoma Indian Territories in search of social and economic freedom." This presentation from the Library of Congress documents some of those migrations.

Documenting the American South
This database presents primary source materials documenting the cultural history of the American South from the viewpoint of Southerners. It offers diaries, autobiographies, travel accounts, titles on slavery and regional literature drawn from the splendid Southern holdings of the UNC--CH Academic Affairs Library. To date we have digitized and encoded over 80 titles, or 18,000 pages of primary source materials and published them on the WWW.

National Urban League
The mission of the National Urban League is to assist African Americans in the achievement of social and economic equality.
