Beall Student Selected As Student Page

The selection process was recently held to choose the Allegany County Student Page representatives. Student Pages spend two non-consecutive weeks in Annapolis working in either the House of Delegates or the Senate during their legislative sessions. Two students from Allegany County Schools were selected as Student Pages. The representatives this year are Mike Shaffer from Beall High School and Ryan Strother from Allegany High School. Mike's first
week in Annapolis will begin
February 11th.

Not Your Ordinary Gym Class

The Adventure Sports class has had many unique experiences beyond the walls of Beall this semester. In September, the class traveled to Rocky Gap State Park for canoeing and kayaking. The students recently visited Frostburg State University to wall climb and snorkel in the Universitypool. They will participate in the high ropes challenge course at Frostburg State in November. After completing research in the library computer lab, the class compiled recipes for outdoor cooking and will prepare those recipes on their hiking and backpacking trips. Some future adventures will include camping and orienteering. The class will also ski and snowboard at the Wisp at Deep Creek Lake. Chris Kreiling teaches the course which is an elective physical education class.

United We Stand

As our nation heals from the tragic events of September 11th, the Beall High School community joins all Americans in grieving the loss of lives in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families and with the firefighters, police, rescue workers, and volunteers who represent the best of America.

On Friday, September 21st, the Beall High School Student Council and Tri-Hi-Y/Hi-Y sponsored a Hat Day to raise funds for the New York Firefighters 911 Disaster Relief Fund and the New York State WTC Relief Fund. $1,400.00 was raised to aid these organizations.
